Announcement of two new African Legal Support Facility Management Board Members

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 26 October 2020: The African Legal Support Facility (“the ALSF” or “the Facility”) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Management Board Members, effective October 26, 2020: Ms. Christine Anyango Agimba and Ambassador Arve Ofstad..

Ms. Christine Anyango Agimba, a Kenyan national and a current Deputy Solicitor General State Law Office and Department of Justice ( Office of the Attorney General), with more than 25 years’ experience in the public and private legal sectors. The experience has included advising on a wide range of legal, governance and policy including managing public sector reform programs in judicial and financial sectors in Kenya. She previously served as project manager and legal sector specialist at the Ministry of Finance; lawyer at the Trade and Development Bank (formerly PTA Bank). She started off her law career as partner at Hamilton, Harrison and Mathew Advocates in Nairobi.

Ambassador Arve Ofstad is a Norwegian national and economist with extensive experience in development, research and aid policy issues. Mr. Ofstad previously served positions in the Kingdom of Norway at as an Ambassador at Royal Norwegian Embassy in Lusaka Zambia and as Deputy Head of Mission Khartoum, Sudan. Mr. Ofstad has also held several senior positions in the Kingdom of Norway at Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), as a Policy Director, State and Peace Building and Development Economics; as Head of Unit for Development Strategies, Poverty Reduction and Peace Building, and as Senior Advisor, Unit of Development Analysis.

Ms. Christine Anyango Agimba and Mr. Arve Ofstad bring a wealth of experience in international policy, international trade, judicial reform and economic development. Information on the ALSF Management Board members is available here.
The Facility would like to take this opportunity to express sincere appreciation for the distinguished contributions of outgoing ALSF Management Board Members: Mr. Bruce Montador and Mr. Rafique Jusob Mahomed who served from June 2017 for a period of 3 years.

About the ALSF/strong>
Created by the African Development Bank in 2010, the ALSF supports governments in negotiating complex commercial transactions, providing legal and technical assistance in public-private partnership projects across the oil and gas, mining and energy sectors, and covering sovereign debt issues and creditor litigation.
